Women of all ages, fitness levels, and backgrounds are invited on this journey of connecting with the elements of our physical world, learning how they relate to our bodies, and how we can harness them to achieve ultimate radiance.

Join Kelly Carlson, a Holistic Licensed Esthetician and Qoya movement teacher, at Four Gates Physical and Energetic Culture in Minneapolis, MN for a 4 part series of Skincare and Qoya Workshops inspired by the elements of nature.

Each 3 hour workshop will include simple, insightful information on caring for the portal that connects our inner world with the outer world — our sacred skin. Take home products will be provided to support this relationship with your sacred nature for weeks following the workshop. We’ll participate in powerful rituals and experience movement as medicine with a Qoya movement class based around the theme. You’ll leave feeling connected — to the elements, to yourself, and to a like-minded community of women.

“We often forget that WE ARE NATURE. Nature is not something separate from us. So when we say that we have lost our connection to nature, we’ve lost our connection to ourselves.” -Andy Goldsworthy

Water

Join us on Sunday, February 12th from 3-6 pm for the first skincare workshop and women’s movement class in a four part series: Water, Air, Fire, Earth.

In this first workshop, we’re going to explore the element of Water. We begin our lives in the amniotic fluid our mothers carry in their wombs and so it’s clear to begin here. We’ll explore the many ways our bodies require water throughout our lives to thrive and how that balance, or imbalance, shows on our skin. We’ll experience a water ritual that will surely nourish your relationship to this sacred element. Then, we’ll move and dance together in a Qoya class based around the theme “Water” to embody this healing, feminine element.

I’ll guide you to access the wisdom of the water element and the water within us.

  • You’ll learn about about women’s unique relationship to water, studies on water memory, and how this can change how we relate to the water in our inner and outer environment.
  • You’ll be introduced to one of the most vital fluids in our bodies, whose stagnancy manifests in many unwanted skin conditions, and show you ways to care for this at home.
  • You’ll receive a swag bag of skincare products to continue to connect with the water for weeks. ($25+ Value)
  • You’ll have opportunities to connect and share with other women.

And then we’ll move together to embody the wisdom of the water element within us. Qoya was designed to help women feel good in their bodies… it is a movement-with-meaning practice based on the idea that through movement we remember. As women, we remember that we are wise, wild, and free. It’s a chance to shift from a place of external validation to internal knowing, that place where the only thing that matters is if it feels good, we’re doing it right.

This Qoya class will focus on connecting to the water within you, this ancient, deep source of intelligence that can soothe, inform, and heal our every cell. So, as we move through circling, heart-opening, hip-opening, yoga as prayer, dancing with our shadows, shaking, free dancing, and stretching, we’ll attune to the possibility of sourcing from this reservoir of wisdom that lives in you and in all of us.

What to bring:

Please wear comfortable clothing.  For this workshop, it would be ideal to have access to your arms and legs from the knee down. Something layered over a tank top will work great and pants that you can roll up above your knee. Please also bring a water bottle, a healthy snack, and a notebook.
